Official First Day
Branson Gospel Music Revival w/ Emma Carter

Today is Tuesday, June 28th, the first official day of the Branson Gospel Music Revival, and it's also my mom's birthday! What a fun time to have a birthday. We've had a busy first day, which began at 9:00 am with a Press Conference.

Beyond the Ashes provided special music for the all of the Press in attendance, including me! Rod and Kelly Burton spoke to us about the schedule for this week and all of the great music that will be heard. Mr. Dino Kartsonakis was the special guest for the press conference. He spoke about the flood victims, including himself, and the tornado disaster in Joplin. He will be holding a benefit called, Hope for Homes on July 4th, 2011, to help the victims of the tornados.

After the Press Conference we all gathered for a time of worship in our second Chapel Service, lead by Reverend Ken Gates. He spoke to us from Romans 12 about how to receive Breakthrough in our lives.

The matinee concert began with The Hallmark Quartet and for the next three hours we enjoyed a variety of groups and soloist. The afternoon session ended with Mr. Mike Allen who has appeared in many Gaither concerts and videos.

What a lot of people won’t see this week, is all of the behind the scenes activities that take place in between the scheduled concerts. For example sound checks, rehearsals for Praise and Worship, combinations of different groups coming together to practice for special songs and showcases. Our evening concert began with one of these special performances as Sunday Edition and Appointed By Grace sang, “I Can Only Imagine” in remembrance of Susan Unthank and Randy Woodrum.

The evening was filled with tears of sorrow, as we remembered those no longer with us, and tears of joy as we celebrated the miraculous recovery of Dale Golden.

Dale was diagnosed with two different kinds of cancer in September of 2010 and was told it was incurable and that he would probably never sing again. But God had another plan! Not only is Dale cancer free right now, but he did a beautiful job singing the old classic song, “How Great Thou Art.” It was a great first night of Branson Gospel Music Revival.

As I've observed common phrases, and words being said this week, I've heard it said many times, "Let's bathe this week in prayer." So we started something new this year that I've been looking forward to telling you about. Rod and Kelly Burton came up with the idea to have a prayer room backstage.

I spoke with Wanda Deering, coordinator for the prayer room, about the idea and what it means to her. "It's just an extension of the vision of Branson Gospel Music Revival. It gives the artist a place where they can slip away and pray. They can leave prayer request on the prayer wall and it's just a way of ministering to the artist and showing God's love to them. I also go around to the booths to take prayer request, and pray with the artist's. It's been really neat to walk around and see what's on their hearts about how God has blessed them or share their needs. I have learned that artists are just humans who need to be loved, and shown that we care for them. Prayer is my Passion."

What an awesome idea!

Check back tomorrow for another update with me from Branson Gospel Music Revival!
