NATIONAL QUARTET CONVENTION 2011 w/ Emma Carter

It’s that time of year the days are getting shorter, the temperatures are dropping and we are Kentucky bound! We will be at the National Quartet Convention (NQC) all this week.

NQC is something I’ve gone to all my life. The memories I have here are absolutely endless! I remember running around with no shoes on most of the time, and using walkie talkies to communicate with my parents. You could say I was a pro at weaving in and out of the heavy crowds with my friends. Now, being that I’m older, I really have more of an appreciation for the event. It’s not only a place to minister, but also a place to come together with your Southern Gospel friends and enjoy each other’s company for a week.

Sunday evening we got to the convention center and set up our booth. My favorite thing to do after that is walk around and see who is here. All throughout the night, groups arrive and set up their booths in anticipation of an awesome week.

Monday morning Dad and I got up to go register and get our passes. After that my friend Haley and I listened to some of the groups on the Featured Artist Showcase. It was really great! One of my favorite groups and great friends of mine — Beyond The Ashes — sang in it and did fantastic!

They did so good I’m wearing their t-shirt today.

The evening concerts consist of the top name groups in Southern Gospel Music, The Hoppers, The Talleys, The Kingsmen, Gold City, Karen Peck and New River, The Dove Brothers and many more.

My friend Haley and I watched some of the concert in Freedom Hall. I’m always blown away at the talent. My favorite group tonight, Monday night, was the Collingsworth Family. Their family harmony is so tight and so good! I love hearing them sing! I guess I’m a little partial to family groups and family harmony.

Stay with me for the week to hear about more awesome stuff happening at the National Quartet Convention!
