| "WHEN 60 MINUTES broadcast their singularly enthusiastic piece on the 'hillbilly Las Vegas,' they hyped the neon-lit Strip with its glitzy mix of country and pop where road-weary veteran performers were said to have transformed a tiny Ozark town into a tourist magnet. Morley Safer stopped briefly at Silver Dollar City, looked earnestly into the camera and said to his audience, 'If you're wondering why Branson, the answer is, no one knows why.' Well, actually someone does know why. And Morley Safer was apparently unaware that he was, at that earnest moment, surrounded by a big part of the answer." page 7 Payton, Crystal, The Story of Silver Dollar City, A Lens & Pen Production, 1997. _______ (LUMBERJACK SHOW MOVES) Tall Timber Lumberjack Show moves to Highway 76 this year to a location two blocks west of Silver Dollar City (across from Uncle Ike's Trail Rides).
