"The shows were popular, Richardson opined, because 'Silver Dollar City's native Ozark craftsmen were among the rarest kind of people being publicized today...the original "beautiful people," with a kind of unpretentiousness and grace like all the rest of us in the world ought to aspire to.'"

Craftsmanship, including the art of basketweaving, has a timeless quality that appeals to our senses. These days, when most of our storage containers come from Wal-mart and are made of plastic, it's easy to forget that this art was function first — these are household tools!

It is, I believe, a testimony to Ozarkers that everyday tools could be this beautiful.
